Welcome Home, T20 World Champion Team India!
The T20 World Cup-winning Indian cricket team has finally touched down on home soil. After an exhilarating victory in Barbados, the team is all set to be welcomed with open arms.
The team departed from Barbados’ Grantley Adams International Airport in a chartered flight with a special call sign – AIC24WC – Air India Champions 24 World Cup. Due to delays caused by Hurricane Beryl, the departure was postponed for a short while.
However, the wait is finally over as the team, support staff, players’ families, board officials, and Indian media are en route back home. A special flight arranged by the BCCI ensured a smooth journey.
The team is scheduled to arrive in New Delhi early on Thursday morning. The day’s events include a meet-and-greet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi followed by a grand ceremony in Mumbai.
The highlight of the day will be an open bus road show starting from Nariman Point and culminating at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. Fans are invited to join the celebration and witness the momentous occasion.
The felicitation ceremony at Wankhede Stadium is set to honor the players and squad members for their outstanding performance in the World Cup. This victory parade is reminiscent of the one held 17 years ago when India emerged victorious in the inaugural T20 World Cup.
Captain Rohit Sharma and BCCI secretary Jay Shah have extended warm invitations to all fans to be a part of the festivities. It’s a day of celebration, pride, and joy as Team India basks in the glory of their remarkable triumph.
Join us in welcoming home the champions as they embark on a memorable journey through the heart of Mumbai. Let’s make this victory parade a moment to remember as we salute the heroes of Indian cricket.
