Mumbai Players Honored for T20 World Cup Victory
In a momentous occasion, the Maharashtra Vidhan Bhavan in Mumbai will witness the honor of four Mumbai players who were part of India’s triumphant T20 World Cup cricket team. Rahul Narwekar, the speaker of the state legislature, announced this special event to be held on Friday to celebrate the outstanding achievement of the players.
The Mumbai natives – Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, and Yashasvi Jaiswal – all played crucial roles in India’s successful campaign in the T20 World Cup. The victory marked the end of an 11-year wait for an ICC trophy for India, with the last triumph being the Champions Trophy in 2013 under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Addressing the assembly on Thursday, Sena Shiv MLA Pratap Sarnaik highlighted the importance of recognizing the contribution of Mumbai players to Indian cricket. The players will be felicitated at the Vidhan Bhavan complex on Friday afternoon, as announced by Speaker Narwekar.
The Indian team returned to New Delhi from Barbados to a hero’s welcome on Thursday morning, showcasing the pride and joy of the nation in their remarkable achievement. This honor for the Mumbai players adds another feather to their cap and acknowledges their significant role in bringing home the T20 World Cup title.
