Students Protest Irregularities in NEET and UGC NET Exams in Kolkata
Students belonging to the CPI(M)’s student wing, SFI, took to the streets in Kolkata to protest alleged irregularities in the NEET and UGC NET exams. As part of a day-long strike, SFI members held demonstrations outside Jadavpur University and Presidency University.
At Jadavpur University, the agitators burned tires in front of one of the gates, while at Presidency University, they blocked College Street for 30 minutes, causing disruptions in traffic. The students demanded the arrest of those responsible for the irregularities in the exams and called for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Abhinaba Basu, a member of SFI at Jadavpur University, mentioned that the protest received widespread support from the students and did not hinder anyone from entering the campus. The day was marked by protest rallies organized by the students’ body state unit in various parts of West Bengal.
“We congratulate the students for making the strike call a success,” said a spokesperson from the SFI Presidency University unit.
