Prime Minister Modi Mocks Opposition in Parliament with ‘Mausi’ Act
During the Parliament session in 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi brought humor to the floor by re-enacting the character ‘mausi’ from the iconic movie ‘Sholay’. His playful act was aimed at ridiculing the Opposition INDIA bloc and the Congress, in reference to the 2024 Lok Sabha Election results.
PM Modi teasingly remarked, “Teesri baar hi toh haare hain, par moral victory toh hai na, party ki lutiya duboyi hai, arre mausi party abhi bhi saansein toh le rahi hai,” which translates to, “They have lost for the third time, but it is a moral victory nonetheless. The party may have been ruined, but they are still breathing at least.”

PM Narendra Modi shared a story, “I remember an incident where a boy scored 99 marks, and when people heard 99, they used to encourage him a lot. Then, a teacher came and asked why they were distributing sweets. He did not score 99 out of 100 but 99 out of 543.”
“Baalak buddhi ko kaun samjhaye ki tumne fail hone ka record bana diya hai,” PM Modi added, taking a dig at Congress MP and LoP Rahul Gandhi.

The BJP-led NDA secured victory in the recent Lok Sabha Elections 2024 for the third consecutive term.
“Those who dance with the Constitution on their heads did not dare implement it in Jammu and Kashmir; they insulted BR Ambedkar,” PM Modi remarked.
PM Modi highlighted that this was the first time in Congress’s history they were unable to surpass 100 seats for three successive elections.
“This is the third major defeat for the Congress. Instead of introspecting, they are engaged in ‘sirsasan’. The Congress is trying to portray a false sense of victory,” he added.
PM Modi emphasized that the mandate for BJP’s rivals was to be in the Opposition and keep making noise without valid arguments.
“I urge the Congress to gracefully accept the mandate and avoid fake celebrations,” Modi concluded.
Prior to PM Modi’s response, Opposition members pressed for MPs from Manipur to speak. However, Speaker Om Birla reminded them that a member had already spoken the day before. This led to an uproar with Opposition members entering the Well of the House, drawing Birla’s admonishment.
