Celebrating Success: IIT Kanpur’s 57th Convocation

Recently, the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) marked a momentous occasion as it hosted its 57th Convocation, honoring 2,332 graduates from diverse disciplines. The event served as a testament to the hard work and achievements of the students who have excelled in their academic journey.

The convocation was divided into two sessions, with the primary opening ceremony held in the prestigious Main Auditorium of IITK. The distinguished Chief Guest for the event was Prof. Jayathi Y. Murthy, President of Oregon State University, USA, and an esteemed alumna of IITK. Dr. Mahesh Gupta, Board of Governors (BoG), IIT Kanpur, and Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director, IIT Kanpur, presided over the convocation. The Academic Procession, symbolizing knowledge and tradition, set the tone for the event.

The 2,332 graduates represented a wide spectrum of disciplines, including 226 PhD recipients, 457 MTech recipients, 842 BTech recipients, and many more. Prof. Jayathi Y. Murthy, a distinguished alumna of IITK, presented awards and prizes to the outstanding performers. She shared her inspiring life experiences, urging the students to carve out their paths to success by living deeply and passionately.

Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director of IIT Kanpur, congratulated the graduating students, emphasizing the values instilled by the institute that will guide them in their future pursuits. He also highlighted the academic initiatives undertaken during the past year, such as the launch of the Kotak School of Sustainability and new academic programs.

The convocation ceremony recognized exceptional students with awards in various categories, including the President’s Gold Medal and Director’s Gold Medals. Students excelling in community service, leadership, and cultural activities were also lauded for their contributions.

During the second session of the convocation, the graduates received their degree certificates in different lecture halls. They also gained access to their digital degrees through IIT Kanpur’s innovative blockchain technology application, ensuring the authenticity and global verifiability of their certificates.

As the convocation drew to a close, the graduates and their families celebrated this significant milestone. IIT Kanpur reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the aspirations of its graduates and contributing to their continued success.
