The creators of the dinosaur-themed MMO, Path of Titans, Alderon Games, have made a significant decision to replace their Intel 13th and 14th Gen-based servers with AMD counterparts. This move comes amid persistent and severe stability issues that have plagued their servers. In a recent blog post, Alderon's founder, Matthew Cassells, detailed the reasons behind this essential switch and urged other hosts managing the game’s servers to follow suit.

Cassells reported that their crash reporting tools have logged “thousands of crashes” on gamers' CPUs, attributing these to Intel processors. More worryingly, he mentioned that these CPUs not only cause system crashes but can also corrupt SSDs and memory. Furthermore, he noted that these issues seem to cause a gradual deterioration in the affected CPUs, eventually leading to their failure. However, contrary to Alderon's findings, RAD Game Tools, developers of the Unreal Engine decompression tool, suggested that only a small fraction of Intel processors suffer from these issues.

Earlier this week, a Warframe developer posted on the game’s forums, revealing that “almost all” of the crashes they recorded were due to driver failures in Intel's 13th and 14th-Gen processors. Interestingly, the crashes on a staff member's gaming rig ceased after installing a recent BIOS update, although Intel stated in June that this update doesn’t address the root cause of the instability.
