Prime Minister Modi Engages with Victorious Indian Cricket Team
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently had a significant interaction with the victorious Indian cricket team, who emerged as champions in the T20 World Cup. The Prime Minister engaged in a conversation with the team, led by Rohit Sharma, discussing their experiences throughout the International Cricket Council (ICC) tournament held in the USA and the Caribbean.
The Indian team achieved victory in the T20 World Cup by defeating South Africa the previous week. Despite facing delays due to a category 4 hurricane in Bridgetown, Barbados, the team finally arrived in Delhi early in the morning.
Prime Minister Modi expressed his delight over the meeting with the championship team at his residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg (LKM). He had an engaging conversation about their tournament journey with the players.
The Prime Minister’s Office released a video showcasing the players in a relaxed conversation with Modi, seated in a circle. Rohit Sharma, the team captain, and head coach Rahul Dravid were also present during the interaction. The atmosphere was light-hearted, with the players visibly happy as they engaged with the Prime Minister.
During the meeting, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Roger Binny and secretary Jay Shah presented Prime Minister Modi with a customized Team India jersey. The jersey featured ‘NAMO’ and the number ‘1’, symbolizing a gesture of appreciation and respect towards the Prime Minister.
