Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan Reflects on Team’s Poor Performance at ICC T20 World Cup
Pakistan’s opener Mohammad Rizwan recently spoke out about his team’s disappointing performance at the ICC T20 World Cup held in the West Indies and the USA. Despite a three-wicket win over Ireland in the Group Stage, Pakistan failed to advance in the tournament, finishing in third place in Group A.
Reflecting on the team’s underwhelming performance, Rizwan acknowledged that criticism was justified and emphasized the need for accountability. He recognized PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi’s authority in deciding the team’s future composition, likening the team to an ill person in need of an operation.
Rizwan, who struggled with his own performance in the tournament, scored only 110 runs in four innings, with one half-century against Canada. His captain, Babar Azam, also faced difficulties with the bat, managing 122 runs in four games.
Despite the setbacks, Rizwan remains hopeful for the team’s future and trusts the PCB chief to make the necessary decisions to improve their performance. Moving forward, Pakistan will need to regroup and address the shortcomings that led to their early exit from the T20 World Cup.
With the right strategy and determination, Pakistan can bounce back stronger in future tournaments. The PCB’s leadership and the team’s commitment to improvement will be key in shaping their success on the international stage.
