Rohit Sharma’s Iconic Walk to Victory in T20 World Cup
Rohit Sharma’s unique walk to receive the T20 World Cup trophy became the highlight of India’s triumphant moment. During the trophy presentation ceremony, Kuldeep Yadav was seen planning the move and showing Rohit how to execute it.
However, WWE star Ric Flair had a different opinion. He tweeted, “@ImRo45 Taking A Page Out Of My Playbook! WOOOOO!” comparing Rohit’s swagger to his own iconic ring entrance strut.
On June 29, India defeated South Africa by seven runs in the T20 World Cup final at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, securing their second T20 world championship. Their previous victory was in the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2007.
At the age of 37, Rohit became the oldest captain to lift the T20 World Cup, following in the footsteps of MS Dhoni. The win also ended India’s 11-year drought for an ICC trophy since their last triumph in the Champions Trophy in 2013.
India’s unbeaten streak throughout the tournament tied a record for the most consecutive wins in a single edition. Their bowling spearhead, Jasprit Bumrah, was awarded the ‘Player of the Tournament’ for his exceptional performances, despite Arshdeep Singh being the joint highest wicket-taker with 17 scalps along with Afghanistan’s Fazalhaq Farooqi.
