Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav praised the party’s victory in Ayodhya (Faizabad Lok Sabha constituency) as a triumph of mature voters’ democratic understanding. Addressing the Parliament during the debate on the motion of thanks to President Droupadi Murmu’s speech, Yadav expressed gratitude to the voters, stating, “The victory in Ayodhya reflects the wisdom of mature voters’ democratic understanding. Hoye wahi jo Ram rachi rakha. (This is Lord Ram’s decision).”
The SP chief didn’t shy away from discussing the controversial topic of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). “I have never had faith in EVMs, and that sentiment remains unchanged. Even if I were to win all 80 seats, my doubts about EVMs would persist. The issue with EVMs is far from resolved,” Yadav emphasized.
In addition to EVM concerns, Akhilesh Yadav also raised questions about the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) paper leaks. “Why are the papers being leaked? It seems apparent that the government is orchestrating these leaks to escape its responsibility of providing employment opportunities to the youth,” Yadav alleged.
Furthermore, the SP chief voiced support for a caste census and denounced the Agniveer scheme. “We firmly advocate for a caste census and oppose the Agniveer scheme. Once the INDIA alliance assumes power, we will abolish the Agniveer scheme. Additionally, a legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops is yet to be implemented. We believe that horticulture crops should also receive MSP,” Yadav asserted.
