The Indian cricket board (BCCI) has announced a second-string Indian team, which will be led by Shubman Gill, set to face Zimbabwe in five T20Is starting from July 6. The team departed for Zimbabwe on Tuesday ahead of the series.
The squad includes four openers – Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Abhishek Sharma. With the absence of key players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja, this series presents an opportunity for the young talents to shine and provide a glimpse into India’s T20 future.
The T20 World Cup standbys including Gill, Avesh Khan, Khaleel Ahmed, Rinku Singh, Sanju Samson, and Yashasvi Jaiswal are part of the squad for the Zimbabwe tour. The series will take place entirely in Harare.
