PM Modi Clashes with Rahul Gandhi Over Hinduism Remarks
Prime Minister Narendra Modi didn’t hold back in the Lok Sabha on Monday as he responded to Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi’s comments about the ruling BJP. Gandhi had insinuated that those identifying as Hindus were perpetuating “violence and hate” constantly. Modi swiftly hit back, calling the accusation against the entire Hindu community “very serious.”
In his speech, Rahul Gandhi took aim at the BJP, stating, “Hinduism is not about spreading fear, hatred, and falsehoods.” Drawing parallels with Islam and Sikhism, he emphasized the importance of fearlessness. Brandishing an image of Lord Shiva, Gandhi highlighted the disparity between Hindu values and the BJP’s alleged fear-mongering tactics.
Rahul Gandhi also took shots at PM Modi, referencing his comments on Mahatma Gandhi and the portrayal of courage in different religions. This critique sparked strong reactions from the ruling party members, who vehemently defended their stance.
Responding to the backlash, Rahul Gandhi clarified that his criticism was directed at the BJP, not the entire Hindu community. He urged for a distinction to be made between the ruling party and broader Hindu sentiments.
