Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma Thank PM Modi for Congratulatory Call Post T20 World Cup Win
The recent victory of the Indian cricket team in the T20 World Cup has not only brought joy to the nation but also received accolades from the Prime Minister. Star batsmen Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma took to social media to express their gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his congratulatory call following the team’s triumph.
Kohli, who played a crucial role in securing the win with his match-winning knock of 76 against South Africa in the final, expressed his gratitude to PM Modi for his support and kind words. In a heartfelt message on social media, Kohli wrote, “Dear @narendramodi sir, thank you so much for your very kind words and your support and encouragement always. It has been a privilege to be a part of this team which has brought the cup home. We are deeply touched & overwhelmed with the happiness it has brought the entire nation.”
Echoing similar sentiments, Captain Rohit Sharma also thanked PM Modi for his praises and stated that the team is proud to bring the trophy home. “Thank you so much @narendramodi sir for your kind words. The team and I are very proud to be able to bring the cup home and are truly touched by how much happiness it has brought everyone back home,” Rohit expressed.
Post the victory, PM Modi congratulated the team and commended Rohit Sharma for his leadership skills and remarkable T20 career. Both Rohit and Kohli announced their retirement from T20 Internationals after India ended their 11-year ICC trophy drought.
Reflecting on their decision to retire, Kohli mentioned, “Time for the next generation to take the T20 game forward. It’s been a long wait for us, waiting to win an ICC tournament. You look at someone like Rohit, he’s played 9 T20 World Cups and this is my sixth. He deserves it.”
Adding to this, Rohit shared, “That was my last game as well. Honestly, I have enjoyed it since the time I started playing this format. There is no better time to say goodbye to this format. I have loved every moment of it. I started my India career playing this format. This is what I wanted to do: win the Cup and say (goodbye).”
The heartfelt messages from Kohli and Rohit towards PM Modi reflect the sense of pride and accomplishment the Indian cricket team feels following their recent victory. The support and recognition from the Prime Minister further emphasize the significance of their achievement in bringing home the T20 World Cup.
