Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Dismisses Criticism of Budget
During a recent statement, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis responded to Uddhav Thackeray’s criticism of the state budget by pointing out that Thackeray himself had admitted to not understanding it. This exchange came after Thackeray described the budget as a “torrent of assurances” and a “false narrative.”
Fadnavis highlighted that Thackeray had previously confessed to his lack of comprehension regarding the budget’s intricacies. Fadnavis stated that such a statement nullified the need for further response to Thackeray’s criticism.
Addressing the budget presented for 2024-25, Fadnavis emphasized the various welfare schemes designed to bring joy to all sectors of society. One such initiative included providing a monthly stipend of ₹1500 to women, along with free electricity for farmers and three complimentary gas cylinders.
Furthermore, Fadnavis confirmed that financial aid would be directly deposited into the bank accounts of cotton and soybean farmers, predominantly situated in Vidarbha. While the decision for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) had been made earlier, its execution had been delayed due to the model code of conduct during the Lok Sabha elections.
In addition to these measures, dairy farmers were slated to receive a subsidy of ₹5 per litre. Fadnavis praised the budget for encompassing schemes like the Mukhyamantri Ladki Bahin Yojana and provisions for youths, stating that it was a significant boon for all sections of society.
